How to Use NextTrainTo

A complete guide to finding live UK train departures with NextTrainTo.

Finding Your Departure Station

Start by entering your departure station. You can either use your current location by clicking "Use my location" or type the station name in the search box. NextTrainTo covers all 2,599 National Rail stations in the UK, so you can find trains from any station.

Selecting Your Destination

Once you have selected your departure station, enter your destination. The app will show you all upcoming direct trains between these two stations, along with their scheduled and expected departure times.

Reading the Departure Board

The departure board shows essential information for each train: the scheduled departure time, expected time (if different), destination, platform number, train operator, and current status. You can tap on any service to see the full calling pattern.

Understanding Train Status

Trains can have several statuses: On time (running to schedule), Delayed (expected to arrive later than scheduled), Cancelled (not running), or a specific expected time showing the delay. Always check the expected time, not just the scheduled time.

Sharing Your Journey

Once you have selected your stations, you can share the URL with others. The link includes your selected route, so anyone you share it with will see the same departure information.
